About Rind and Root

My name is Julia. I started Rind and Root after graduating from the College of Naturopathic Medicine. I am absolutely in awe of the human body, and how incredibly capable it is to survive anything thrown its way. Modern life with its everyday challenges makes it so much harder for us to excel, and there comes a point that your body chooses to survive rather than thrive. You begin to receive signals (symptoms) from your body asking for help but life gets in the way. One day the symptoms become so loud they are impossible to ignore any longer.
Our bodies have built-in monitoring and cleaning "teams" that work tirelessly to allow us to pursue our biggest life goals. These "teams" need to be nourished to do their work well. Lack of vital nutrients, long-term exposure to stressors and emotional challenges may inhibit their meticulous operations. I look at the body as a whole and endeavour to find a root cause of the physical manifestation of an illness. I also involve my knowledge of the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) principles in understanding the presenting symptoms. Whilst it may be important to limit or avoid certain types of foods to open drainage pathways before addressing the worrying symptoms, I generally do not like demonizing foods or entire food groups (carbs or fats etc.). It is about finding what works for you and providing your body with all the necessary nutrients to operate at the optimal level.

Why work with a naturopathic nutritionist?

There is a lot of health and wellbeing information freely available online. With AI taking hold in the world a lot of concerns can be addressed fairly quickly. But not all of it will make sense or be directly applicable to you. When you work with me I will dig deep to truly understand the presenting issue to create a map linking the events in your life with the presenting symptoms. I will use the current scientific research alongside the naturopathic principles to offer you a way to heal your body. Naturopathy recognises the body's innate ability to heal when provided with the right environment and nourishment. My gained experience of prior clients who have achieved tangible results will be of great value.

What concerns can I support?

In allopathic medicine, symptoms are categorised and labelled for a suitable treatment to be provided. However, I believe the majority of modern ailments stem from systemic inflammation driven by various stressors (environmental or internal) and nutritional deficiencies/ insufficiencies. Symptoms appear in a particular area of your body because of a trigger that is personal to you. Therefore, many chronic conditions like recurring headaches, digestive and skin issues, anxiety, anaemia, fatigue and anything related to women's health like PMS, PCOS, uterine fibroids etc. can be supported with nutrition and minor tweaks to your everyday activities.
